DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP: The bulk of last week's business took place on
Wednesday and Thursday, with a little cleanup on Friday. Southern-live
deals had a range of $200 to $204, mostly $201, steady to $1 higher than
the prior week's weighted averages. Northern-dressed sales ranged from
$318 to $330, mostly $322, $2 higher than the previous week's weighted
averages. According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle
Negotiated Purchase Summary reports, weekly accumulated weighted averages
were as follows, (the prior week's weighted averages are listed in
parentheses). KS $200.86($200.80); NE $321.74($320.22); TX
$201.00($200.10); IA $320.69($320.23); CO not available due to
confidentiality. When the summaries are released a little later this
morning it is more than likely that weekly weighted average prices will
be record-breaking for the third straight week in a row.

date trade volume totals as: KS 8,580; NE 26,163; TX 1,552, IA 21,626; CO

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: The country is quiet this morning, and it is
looking like a typically quiet Monday, as both packers and producers are
busy preparing for the week ahead. Bids and asking prices have yet to be
established, and significant trade volume will likely be delayed until
much later in the week. Beef cutouts are expected to be higher with
generally light box movement.
