OMAHA (DTN) -- Here are the Top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of March 9. Watch for coverage of these and other topics through the week on our subscription platforms as well as on www.DTNPF.com.

Note that all report release times are Central Daylight Savings Time unless otherwise noted.

1. Springing forward: Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday, the next step in the march to spring, while meteorologically speaking, spring has begun to sprung.

2. WASDE on Tuesday: The next World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates as well as Crop Production reports are released at 11 a.m. Tuesday. DTN news sites will have flash reports at that time, followed by updates and analysis throughout the hour. We'll kick off our Rhett's Reaction webinar, featuring DTN Lead Analyst Rhett Montgomery, at 12:30 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer session. To register for the free webinar, go here: https://www.dtn.com/…

3. Assessing the political winds: We'll continue watching the ups and downs of ag policy and trade actions, and how they influence the markets. We're also looking at the potential changes coming to USDA departments that are reducing staff.

4. Weather update: Warm spring air flows into much of the U.S. this week, with two additional systems moving through later in the week. The second could bring showers to the Midwest, Delta midweek. March is shaping up to be a bit warmer than normal, though the DTN forecast calls for a flip back to cooler conditions in April. It will add to the challenge of early spring corn and soybean plantings.

5. Economic reports for the week: Monday at 10 a.m. we'll have weekly Grain Inspections reports. Tuesday at 9 a.m. the latest Job Openings (JOLTS) data is out, then at 11 a.m. is the March WASDE, Crop Production and Cotton Ginnings reports. At 11:15 a.m. comes more commodity data with the release of Cotton World Markets and Trade, Grains World Markets and Trade, Oilseeds World Market and Trade, and World Ag Production, all from the Foreign Ag Service. Wednesday features 7:30 a.m. release of Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Core CPI. At 9:30 a.m. is the EIA Weekly Petroleum including Ethanol data. At 1 p.m. we'll see the Monthly Federal Budget report, at 2 p.m. is Dairy Monthly data and Season Average Price forecast, plus the latest Wheat Data and Broiler Hatchery and Turkey Hatchery numbers. Thursday at 7:30 a.m. is Grain Export Sales, Initial Jobless Claims, Producer Price Index (PPI) and Core CPI. At 10:30 a.m. is the Weekly Economic Index update, followed by Feedgrains Database and Oil Crop Outlook at 11 a.m. At 2 p.m. the Feed and Wheat Outlooks hit, as well as the latest North American Grain and Oilseed Crushings data. Friday sees the 9 a.m. release of Consumer Sentiment figures, and we'll have the 2:30 p.m. release of CFTC Commitment of Traders report, which could begin to give a clue as to how traders are responding, or not, to the tariff rollercoaster.
